Lindley purchases Professional Golf Management, Inc. from Paul Bergen, Founder
Matthew Lindley, Partner in Professional Golf Management, Inc. since April 2012, has purchased the golf and hospitality management company from the founder and previous owner Paul Bergen. The terms of the sale are undisclosed.
While Lindley will be at the helm of the company Bergen will stay involved in the role of Vice President of Business Development where he will assist in the strategic growth plan set forth in early 2012. When asked about the transition Bergen said, “It is an exciting time for PGM and for me to watch the company evolve to meet the changing needs in the industry. Under Matt’s direction, I am certain that the vision that I had for the company 23 years ago will be achieved and will become a leader in the industry.”
“Paul (Bergen) has laid the groundwork to take the company to the next level”, said Lindley. “His reputation in the industry as an excellent operator and long list of satisfied clients is the foundation on which new business will be generated.”
Prior to his involvement with PGM, Lindley was Vice President of Resort Activities at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort where he had been employed since 1991. Used Golf Clubs Sell for $26, 290 at Heritage Auction
As reported on Reuters (http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/12/12/us-ford-auction-idUSBRE8BB02A20121212), “A set of well pre-owned golf clubs (http://www.clubtrader.com/en/cms.php?id_cms=10) that belonged to former President Gerald Ford was among 50 items that sold at auction on Tuesday December 11th, raising $131,682 for expansion of his presidential museum.” The auction was hosted by Heritage Auctions out of Dallas, Texas. The golf clubs were situated in their original golf bag with a label stating Jerry Ford and baring the presidential seal. Due to their status, the clubs raised the most money at the auction.
Gerald Ford was known as an “avid golfer” and the clubs were a prized possession he frequently used. The clubs sold for $26, 290. The director of Americana auctions for Hertiage, Tom Slater states in reference to Gerald’s love of the clubs, “These are his much-loved personal clubs…this was not some presentation set that was locked away in a closet and never actually used.”
The clubs (http://www.clubtrader.com/en/best-sales) amongst other items were put up for auction by the family of Gerald Ford to raise money for the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports several various buildings and ventures. Included in these are the museum in Gerald Ford’s hometown of Gran Rapids, Michigan and the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The implementation of the auction was in hopes of raising money to build a student learning center at the museum.
